Opinion Survey
for Students (OSS)
Sample Printouts
|
The Opinion Survey for Students (OSS), which is used in grades 6 to 12, assesses student attitudes and opinions about six important aspects of your school including school climate, discipline/safety, learning environment, staff-student relations, perception of self, and academic progress. There exists a DOS executable computer program that I use to analyze OSS data and to print out item and composite scores for up to thirteen groups: all students, male students, female students, White students, Hispanic students, Other Ethnic students, and students in each grade level 6 through 12. Printouts aren't generated for empty groups (i.e., groups with no data). Two different sample printouts for the OSS are listed below... #1... General Information Printout. This printout explains the OSS scoring procedure and lists the different groups for which summary results can be produced. |

#2... The Group Printout. This one-page group printout shows both composite scores and item scores. A separate printout is generated for each group of students (i.e., all students, by gender, by ethnic group, and by grade level). On the sample "All Students" printout shown below, for example, students gave their highest composite rating to school climate (3.28) and their lowest composite rating to their perception of self (3.09). |
