Opinion Survey
for Parents (OSP)
Sample Printouts
The Opinion Survey for Parents (OSP), which is appropriate for use by schools serving students in grades 6 to 12, assesses parent attitudes and opinions about five aspects of your school including school climate, discipline/safety, learning environment, staff-student relations, and academic progress.
There exists a DOS executable computer program that I use to tally and analyze OSP data and to print out item and composite scores for up to thirteen groups: all parents, parents of male and female students, parents of White, Hispanic and other ethnic students, and parents of students in each grade level 6 through 12. Printouts aren't generated for empty groups (i.e., groups with no data).
A samples for each of the two different types of OSP printouts are shown below...
#1... The OSP General Information Printout.
This printout explains the OSP scoring procedure and lists the different groups for which summary results can be produced.

#2... The OSP Group Printout.
This one-page group printout shows both composite scores and item scores. A separate one-page printout is generated for each parent group (i.e., all parents, and disaggregated groups for parents by gender, by ethnic group and by grade level). On the sample "All Parents" printout shown below, for example, parents gave their highest composite rating to the learning environment at the school (3.47) and their lowest composite rating to the school climate (3.01).
